Garrett's Games and Geekiness 121

Shelley joins me on the microphones for a discussion of a past SdJ winner (Alhambra), then we talk about a painful experience playing Mexican Train Dominoes.  I then discuss two NEW games that I had the chance to get to the table at a local Games Day - Tribune and Nefertiti.

This is the second and LAST WEEK to enter the firecracker contest.  Win a game of your choice or second and third place get a choice from 4 games listed in the episode.  I MUST have entries by THURSDAY, JULY 10 in order for you to be part of the contest.

The podcast is once again sponsored by WWW.GATEPLAY.COM - THE GATEWAY TO GREAT GAMES.

For me, Mexican Train Dominoes is a fun 2 player filler as long as you only play 2 or 3 rounds. I like the game but I can't imagine playing 13 rounds either. Didn't your friends notice that you both weren't having fun? I'll bet you would have liked the game more if you only played 2 or 3 rounds as a filler. The game itself is quite popular.

Yeah, 2-3 rounds would have been OK, but 13 killed it.  I think our friends (esp. my male colleague) was just completely oblivious to the pain we were experiencing!  We try to hide misery, especially with non-gamers who may try other things, so hopefully we can convince them to try OUR games next time.

    Thanks for the comment.
