Garrett's Games and Geekiness 163

Shelley and I spend some time talking about the new Days of Wonder game Small World (thanks to Mark at Days of Wonder for the review copy), then revisit Diamonds Club (MUCH better with 4!), Hab & Gut, and return to Bürger, Baumeister & Co. to discuss how much better it is with 4 instead of 3 or especially 2.

Enjoy!

    Hey Doug-
Just a brief comment on Hab & Gut. I haven't played this one, but your description in the podcast put me in mind of a similar mechanic in The Garden Competition. Same 'shared knowledge' mechanic--you and your neighbor on either side know a small amount about what the judges will value the highest when they judge the gardens at game end.

Since you both like Bloom, I thought this one would be worth checking out. Small Canadian self-published effort, but the effort of obtaining a copy may well be worthwhile.

    Thanks for the podcasts,

Thanks for the comment, Doug.  I played Garden Competition once and it fell kind of flat.  I think I need to try it again before I make the leap to obtaining a copy, but thanks for the suggestion.

    Hey folks.
I just finished listening to 163. Thanks for covering Small World and Diamonds Club. I have been wondering about both. I heard a somewhat negative review of Diamonds Club. I'm glad to see that you liked it. It sounds fun.
Small World is on my list. Several podcast reviews have been quite positive and it also sounds fun.
Thanks for the show. I'll catch up this weekend.
