Garrett's Games 247 - Listener Commentaries

The January contest ends with a revelation of the winners (contact me by email) and a conversation about the wonderful commentaries everyone sent in as part of the contest.  Enjoy the words of others that we get to share, and thanks for all of the submissions!

    Congrats to the winners.

The Decktet is less a "set of pieces" [though the BGG gallery might give that impression] than you made it out to be. It's just a deck of cards, really.

Much like Cribbage requires a board and pegs and Poker requires some chips, some Decktet games require a few other pieces for convenience or play support.

Magnate [the game I sent in] only requires a few tokens in 6 colors and a couple dice. If anyone's interested in learning, I can help get the bits.

Follow my "website" link on this post to a BGG thread where I'm putting together a "Magnate set" bulk order. Buy a Decktet from GameCrafter for $10.

Magnate is not just another light card game. A recent person I sent a set of bits to for the game described it as "surprisingly robust" for a light Euro.

And it is. The game has some real depth to explore, and there are multiple layers to peel back in discovering the workable strategies for the game.

    Everyone should try it!

Thanks for the clarification Nate.  I'll be looking into this one in the future!
