Doug,

Great meeting you guys this weekend! I've been thinking about "Tribune" quite a bit since we played. Even though the cards did play a role in my not claiming the 3 victory conditions, If I had thought about it, I could have claimed a third condition by holding on to one of my faction controls and using it to gain a Tribune. In retrospect, the game penalizes you for focusing too narrowly on any one victory condition. This is not a bad thing, and makes being able to see the big picture all the more important. I look forward to playing again.

Thanks again,
Dave Bockhaus

ps. Now that your pod cast mention has made me famous, I'll only be available for game play through my agent.

---------

Dave,

And Greg said you weren't really a gamer! Man, if you're thinking about the game 2 days after playing and are looking forward to another play, you ARE a gamer.

My agent will be contacting your agent so we can play again!

Did I miss it, or did you in fact not mention what the prize for the contest would be? You mentioned what the second and third place winners of the last contest would be, but I don't recall hearing about the prizes for the new one.

Or, wait, er, maybe I did actually hear you say it and, er, it's a $500 gift certificate to gateplay.com. I'm right, aren't I? Right?

For me, Mexican Train Dominoes is a fun 2 player filler as long as you only play 2 or 3 rounds. I like the game but I can't imagine playing 13 rounds either. Didn't your friends notice that you both weren't having fun? I'll bet you would have liked the game more if you only played 2 or 3 rounds as a filler. The game itself is quite popular.

----

Yeah, 2-3 rounds would have been OK, but 13 killed it. I think our friends (esp. my male colleague) was just completely oblivious to the pain we were experiencing! We try to hide misery, especially with non-gamers who may try other things, so hopefully we can convince them to try OUR games next time.

Thanks for the comment.
